I considered Indonesia as my second home after around seven years working here as a teacher. I was born and raised in the Philippines, but living and working abroad have provided me with the opportunity to develop my personal and professional life. At first I worked in manufacturing specialty chemicals as an engineer. But after a year of working in an industry, I decided to go back to the university and took an Education Major in Mathematics. I taught Math and Science for 9 years after graduation. An opportunity to work in China as a Chemistry and Further Math teacher for three years started my international career. Teaching at SNA has given me an opportunity to teach the Cambridge Curriculum from checkpoint stages to Advance Level of Science.
I believe that education is an individual, unique experience for every student who enters a classroom. Teachers must facilitate learning and growth academically and personally. I have the responsibility to constantly improve my knowledge and skills so that I can deliver the content of the course to my students efficiently. I believe that the best things to do inside the classroom are: be smart, be passionate and be ready. I always praise and appreciate students’ effort; I focus on their progress. Teaching and learning is a reciprocal process. I consider each student’s differences and nurture his/her weaknesses and strengths, because the student’s success is also mine.
