About the Role

Sekolah Nusa Alam (SNA) is seeking an experienced, committed and capable Kepala Sekolah to join our Senior Management Team and contribute to the continued development of our school.

SNA is a Cambridge-accredited school offering education from Early Years to A Levels. We combine an internationally recognised curriculum with a strong understanding of the Indonesian educational and cultural context.

The Kepala Sekolah plays an important role in the leadership and day-to-day development of the school, working closely with the Principal, school Board and Senior Management Team. The position has particular responsibility for educational leadership, the development and management of Indonesian teaching staff, relationships with Indonesian education authorities and the wider community, and the school's Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme. The role also includes a teaching commitment of approximately 20%.

Key Responsibilities

Educational Leadership

• Support the development and implementation of the school's educational priorities and improvement plans.
• Monitor teaching and learning and work with teachers to maintain and improve standards.
• Promote consistent expectations for student behaviour, classroom management and professional practice.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment and the effective implementation of the Cambridge curriculum within the Indonesian context.
• Support collaboration, reflection and continuous professional development among staff.

Staff Leadership and Development

• Provide guidance, supervision and professional support to teaching staff and teacher assistants.
• Establish clear expectations for professional conduct, performance and responsibilities.
• Monitor staff performance and address concerns promptly and appropriately.
• Contribute to staff recruitment, induction, performance reviews and professional development.
• Support effective collaboration between Indonesian and international staff.

Government and Community Relations

• Maintain professional relationships with relevant Indonesian education authorities, government agencies, school supervisors and local schools.
• Keep the Principal and school Board informed of relevant developments in Indonesian education and regulatory requirements.
• Represent SNA at meetings and events as required.
• Support the school's participation in local educational, cultural and community activities.

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA)

• Oversee the planning, coordination and development of the school's ECA programme.
• Coordinate with teachers, activity leaders and external providers to ensure activities are well organised and appropriately supervised.
• Ensure that the programme offers students a varied range of meaningful activities that support their interests, development and wellbeing.
• Oversee scheduling, enrolment, attendance, parent communication, safeguarding and risk-management arrangements.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the programme and identify opportunities for improvement.

School Management and Student Wellbeing

• Support the effective day-to-day operation of the school and implementation of school policies.
• Work with the Principal and relevant staff to maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
• Support safeguarding procedures and work closely with the school's designated safeguarding staff.
• Contribute to school development, community engagement and other responsibilities delegated by the Principal.
• Undertake teaching responsibilities equivalent to approximately 20% of a full teaching load, as and when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

• Must be an Indonesian national.
• Minimum S2 qualification from a recognised and accredited institution.
• Appropriate teaching qualifications and professional credentials.
• Significant teaching experience.
• At least three years of school leadership or management experience, including substantial responsibility for staff, students or school operations.
• Demonstrable experience in leading, supporting and developing teachers.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Strong written and spoken English and Indonesian.
• Ability to work effectively within the Indonesian educational and regulatory context.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience as a Kepala Sekolah, Deputy Principal, Head of School or equivalent senior educational leader.
• Experience in a Cambridge, international or bilingual school.
• Familiarity with IGCSE and A Level programmes.
• Experience working with Indonesian education authorities and local schools.
• Experience leading school improvement or organisational change.
• A relevant postgraduate qualification.
