Sekolah Nusa Alam (SNA), a leading international school in Lombok, was founded in 1999 by Ibu Ace Robin and Ibu Sopantini, together with Lombok residents Peter Cranfield and Mark Heyward. The school officially opened on 17 January 2000 with just six students and five teaching staff, three Indonesian and two international teachers.
Under the leadership of founding Principal, Ibu Sopantini, the school focused on building a strong academic foundation, developing a holistic international curriculum, and investing in professional development for teachers.
SNA quickly became known for its commitment to quality education and inclusive values. In 2000, Sekolah Nusa Alam became a founding member of the National Plus Schools Association (ANPS) in Jakarta. By 2003, enrolments had grown to over 50 students at SNA.
Over the next 15 years, significant campus developments were made, including:
In 2014, SNA was officially licensed as an SPK school (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) and received national accreditation for the senior high school (SMA) with a score of 92 and the rating *Amat Baik* (Excellent). The school was now fully licensed at all levels: kindergarten (TK), primary (SD), junior secondary (SMP) and senior secondary (SMA)
As the school celebrated its 18th year, it marked a major milestone by relocating to a purpose-built international school campus on the outskirts of Mataram, designed to support modern, flexible, and inclusive learning.
From 2018 to 2022, Sekolah Nusa Alam demonstrated resilience through the Lombok earthquakes and the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenging events, enrolments remained strong, and the school continued to deliver high-quality education to a growing student body.
By this time, student numbers had increased to around 250.
Under the leadership of founding Principal, Ibu Sopantini, the school continued to focus on a strong academic foundation through its holistic international curriculum, and investing in professional development for teachers.
