Welcome!

As we move into the final few weeks of the school year, there is a noticeable sense of intensity as teachers and students prepare for upcoming final assessments among many other activities.

Much of the Checkpoint and IGCSE examination series is now nearing completion, marking an important milestone for our students after weeks of focused effort. Other year levels will be taking Cambridge progression tests, and our younger students will be assessed in other age-appropriate ways.

Alongside this, the school continues to hum with activity – from the celebration of World Football Day on Monday to the field trips taking place across different year levels, finalising artworks for the art exhibition, and rehearsing for the final assembly. It can all feel a little overwhelming!

The final weeks of the year are always a flurry of activity as we wrap up and prepare for a well-earned break. In the midst of all this, it was a welcome sight to see our parents and teachers taking a a little time for themselves. So, let’s start there!

And Breathe...

On Wednesday this week, parents and teachers came together to take part in a Pilates session in the sports hall. We are grateful to the Parents Association and Ibu Diany for organising and delivering this wonderful moment for our school community to connect, unwind, and focus on wellbeing.

It was a relaxed and enjoyable session that brought people together outside of the usual routines of the school day, reminding us of the importance of balance and self-care.

Opportunities such as this help strengthen the sense of community that sits at the heart of our school, where relationships between parents and staff continue to grow in a positive and supportive way.

Thank you to all who participated and I hope we can make events like these a regular thing.

Yearbook 2026-2027

Over the past two weeks, we have been taking photographs of everyone at school as we put together the Yearbook. It is always heartwarming to see each individual student step up and pose, bringing their own unique personality to the moment.

From confident smiles to more thoughtful expressions, each photograph captures something of who they are at this point in time. These images become more than just pictures – they are small snapshots of growth, identity, and belonging within our school community, which, over time, will form part of a much larger and lasting memory. Many years from now, each of these young people will look at these photos and a little spark of memory will return – a reminder of friendships, experiences, and the little moments that quietly shaped their big memories.

I am also proud to announce the winner of this year’s Yearbook cover contest: Jasmine Forrest (Y3). Well done, Jazzy! As the winner, Jazzy and her family will receive a free yearbook!

Summer School

Join us this June for a fun-filled week of learning, laughter, and discovery at Sekolah Nusa Alam’s Kids Summer School.

Designed for children aged 3–10, this engaging programme blends play-based activities with meaningful learning, helping children build literacy, numeracy, and confidence in a joyful environment. From games and sports to art, science experiments, and creative projects, each day offers something new to explore.

Throughout the week, children will also develop the key learner attributes we value at SNA – growing in confidence as they try new things, becoming more engaged through hands-on experiences, and learning to be reflective and responsible in how they interact with others.

Running from 15–19 June, this is a wonderful opportunity for children to make new friends, try new things, and grow through meaningful experiences. Come and be part of a week where learning feels like play – and every moment counts.

Colours Of Culture

Join us for Colours of Culture, a vibrant celebration of art, identity, and creativity at Sekolah Nusa Alam. This special event showcases our students’ work as they explore the rich heritage of Lombok through artistic expression. My gratitude goes out to Ibu Ega, who has worked incredibly hard to bring this event to fruition.

At SNA, we believe creativity is not an extra – it is essential. It is through creating, interpreting, and expressing that students become innovative thinkers, reflective learners, and confident individuals. This exhibition brings our learner attributes to life, as students engage deeply with culture, take creative risks, and communicate their ideas in meaningful ways.

We warmly invite all parents to attend the opening ceremony on 2nd June. Come and experience the imagination, skill, and insight of our students – and celebrate the powerful role that creativity plays in learning and in life.

Calendar Changes

A notification was sent out this week informing our community of changes to our school calendar.

Firstly, we have reshaped the downloadable PDF of the school calendar, which is available on the school website. It now spans the entire year allowing families to plan ahead. Of course, nothing is entirely predictable in human affairs, so there may be unforeseen yet necessary changes from time to time, but we will certainly try our best to limit the impact of these.

Secondly, and admittedly a little belatedly, we made an adjustment to include the government-recommended cuti bersama on 28th May, thereby extending the Eid-al-Adha national holiday. This is an important day for Muslims worldwide and one that we honour and respect alongside many of the families in our community. I hope that this additional day will provide time for reflection, celebration, and meaningful moments together.
